I am a contemporary portrait photographer who creates portfolios for actors and models. I also shoot portrait headshots for both corporate and personal use.
Capturing a great portrait is all about the expression. The technical stuff is important in creating a great image. But if the headshot lacks character or depth, then no matter how great the lighting it will fail to impress.
It’s best to keep portrait session fun. Those moments before and after laughter are great for capturing that genuine expression. We will review the images as we shoot so you can be sure we have a great shot. Its two-way process making a good portrait headshots so come prepared to do a bit of work.
Portraits session can take place at my studio, my garden or various outdoor locations nearby to these. Obviously having a studio means we don’t have to worry about the British weather from October to April.
My studio is based in South London, equidistant from Brixton, Camberwell, and Herne Hill, all of which have good public London transport links. I also have free parking.
Studio sessions will be flash based, if you prefer natural light we can use a location nearby but this is weather dependent. We can also mix the two up to create a more varied portfolio.
Remember your investing in good images so make sure you look your best. i.e don’t go out on the piss the night before the shoot. Get your hair cut / styled on the day, or the day before. Bring a few changes of clothes, plain clothes in various tones from light to dark make for a good shoot. I can’t supply an MUA, but feel free to source your own.
We’ll work through various lighting set ups over a couple of hours and aim to end up with 5-6 really good portraits.
