Good headshot photography isn’t about making you look like someone else — it’s about making you look like the best version of yourself. That sounds obvious, but it’s harder to achieve than most photographers make it look. Lighting, framing, timing, and the ability to put someone at ease in front of a camera all have to work together.

I work with actors needing a strong casting headshot, musicians and performers building a promo portfolio, business owners who want something more considered than a corporate profile shot, and creatives who just need a decent image that represents their work. If you’re not sure which category you fall into, that’s fine — most people aren’t.

Sessions take place at my studio in Camberwell — a railway arch in SE5, ten minutes from Elephant & Castle. Occasionally I’ll shoot on location if that makes more sense for what you’re after.

How it works

A straightforward session,
no awkward posing

Most people aren’t comfortable in front of a camera — that’s completely normal, and it’s something I factor into how I run every session. We start slowly, work through a few different setups, and I’ll show you what we’re getting on screen as we go. By the time we’re an hour in, most people have forgotten they’re being photographed.

Sessions are shot tethered — the camera feeds directly to a screen so we can review and adjust lighting, expression, and framing in real time. It removes the guesswork and means you leave with images you’ve already seen and approved rather than waiting anxiously for an online gallery.

A typical headshot photography session runs two to three hours, which gives us enough time to try different lighting setups and a couple of wardrobe changes. Longer packages are available if you need a wider range of images — see the pricing page for details.

Preparation

Before the shoot

A little preparation
goes a long way

Bring two or three outfit options — different necklines and colours read very differently on camera. Avoid busy patterns and loud logos. Think about grooming ahead of time, particularly if you’re booked for a morning session. Beyond that, don’t overthink it. The rest is my job.
