Beauty photography sits at the centre of several things I do. Some of it is explicitly editorial — creative collaborations with makeup artists, built around a concept and shot to make the makeup the subject. Some of it arrives as portrait work for musicians and performers who want something more considered than a standard shoot, where the makeup and styling become part of the image rather than background detail. And some of it is commercial — brand work for small beauty companies who need images that hold up at close range.
All three types share the same demands: lighting that reveals texture without flattening it, a close attention to skin and detail, and the patience to get the close-up right. That’s the work I’m most interested in doing more of, and the portfolio on this page reflects where it currently sits.
I shoot from my studio in Camberwell, South London — a controlled environment that works well for beauty work where light needs to be precise.
Working with
makeup artists
Most of the editorial beauty work I do starts with a makeup artist. The best results come when the shoot is built as a collaboration from the start — not a photographer hired to document someone else’s work, but a conversation about concept, lighting, and what the image needs to do before anyone picks up a brush or a camera.
I’ve done a number of shoots with Carlos Moura — whose work crosses between beauty editorial and fashion styling — and several with Tetiana Kurtyniuk. Both bring a strong visual sensibility to the work, and the results reflect that. These are the collaborations I’d like to do more of, and I’m always open to conversations with makeup artists looking for a photographer to work with on test or editorial projects.

Not all beauty photography arrives as a dedicated brief. Some of the strongest images in this portfolio came from portrait shoots with musicians and performers — people who came in with interesting makeup and styling as part of their visual identity, and where the shoot naturally became as much about the beauty work as the portrait itself. It’s a crossover I’d like to develop: if you’re a musician or performer with a strong visual direction, that’s a conversation worth having.
On the commercial side, I worked with Five Beauty on a filming and production day — primarily video content, with some stills taken alongside using the existing video lighting. It’s early territory for me in terms of dedicated beauty brand work, but the technical demands are familiar: precise lighting, attention to product texture, and images that hold up at the scale and quality a beauty brand needs.
